Top 5 Hong Kong Pools
When the heat gets unbearable in Hong Kong, a good way to cool down is by hitting the water. The city’s 44 public pools are cheap as chips to enter (adults pay HK$17 during the week and HK$19 on weekends/public holidays, while children under three get in free!) and many offer facilities such as kiddie pools and water slides for a fun family day out.
If you’re looking for somewhere a bit more upmarket, then head to one of the city’s top hotels with their own swimming pools. There’s nothing quite like a dip in a tropical pool to revive you and give your skin that healthy glow.
The hotel pools below are among the best in town and have been chosen for their quality of water, beautiful views and their great locations. Most offer a variety of different pool and massage packages.
With a lagoon-like feel and resort vibe, this pool is popular with families. It’s also located close to the city centre and has a number of lounge chairs and cabanas for those wanting to soak up some sun. The pool also stages major international swim events, so expect it to be busy on the weekends.
Located on the seafront of Ma On Shan, this pool is spacious and looks out towards Tolo Harbour. It has a main pool with spectator stands that can hold up to 1,200 people, along with smaller training and teaching pools. Kids will love the four waterslides here, including two that stand at 9 metres tall.
If you want to stay in the New Territories, this is a lovely option with clear turquoise waters and plenty of shade thanks to its large outer area. The pool is dotted with fake palms and mini slides for a tropical feel, making it perfect for kids. There are also a number of loungers, so you can relax with a book while the kids enjoy their day in the water.
The only downside to this one is that it’s small, so it can be crowded during peak times. But, on the plus side, it’s a lot cheaper than other public pools and has a really nice layout with a range of different swimming lanes, so is ideal for a little bit of serious swim practice.
The pool is only a short walk from Diamond Hill and Choi Hung MTR stations. There are also a number of buses that stop nearby, making it easy to reach from other areas.
