The Hong Kong Prize 2013 Winner Announced!

The Hong Kong Prize, one of Asia’s premier awards, recognizes scientific research that has significant societal benefit. It encourages young people to follow their passions and broaden their global perspectives. It also aims to promote international cooperation and high standards of moral integrity. The award is open to researchers worldwide and is free from sponsorship and special committee influences.

The HK Prize is a unique platform that brings together the best and brightest young talent from around the world to compete and excel in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics subjects. The winner will receive a cash prize, and will have the opportunity to participate in seminars or research internships at Hong Kong universities and laboratories, where they can learn from cutting-edge scientists who have gone on to win Nobel Prizes.

This year’s event was a little different from previous years, as the usual star-studded ceremony has been cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic. It was announced via video clip, instead of a live broadcast from the venue, which allowed more students to participate in this prestigious event.

During the ceremony, Mr Leung thanked everyone who has helped him during his 41-year acting career and assured the audience that he will continue to work hard. He also promised to share his award with those who have influenced and supported him throughout his career.

Mr Leung also expressed his gratitude to the organisers, the judges and all of the other participants for their effort in making this year’s HK Prize a success. He wished all the young people and their families all the best in their future endeavors!

Students of enrolled secondary schools in Hong Kong are eligible to enter this competition by being nominated by their teachers. They are required to submit their artwork online before the submission deadline and those that are deemed most worthy will be shortlisted. The judging panel will then select 20 student artists and award them with the Judges Prize of HK$8,000, while their school will get a prize of HK$20,000!

The public can also vote for their favourite artist and the one with the most votes will win the Public Vote Prize of HK$4,000. Please refer to the T&Cs for more details.
